After the project team had been formed, they identified their functionality criteria, and then began evaluating software providers and their products so that their decision would be based on strong products research. The support of the supporting abas partner was only required for the data transfer and a supplementary adjustment. The remainder was carried out internally, after training sessions which started in September 2001. The go-live date was 02.02.02; shortly after additional projects, such as measuring data recording and quality management in abas were realized using the abas internal programming language. Since 2006, the automatic control of picking has been another highlight of the abas implementation. In 2010 EPHY-MESS expanded their use of abas by adding the BI tool.
